I've recently realized that I love food (among other things) and that it brings people together. I'm going to post pictures of food, from restaurants and stuff i've made in the hopes that it might give you ideas for restaurants if you're in the area or you want to make something :) If you want the entire recipe for things i make just ask :) oh, and other things that amuse me will be posted as well haha

What drives men to romance us, take us out to dinner, and do things for us?  It’s because they are interested in us, they enjoy seeing us smile.  And don’t we like making them happy just as much as they like making us happy?  So what right do we have to order them around?  I’ve seen guys spend exorbitant amounts on their girlfriends only to be ordered around, becoming miserable, feeling caught between trying to make them happy and being miserable, yelled at for not trying enough when they were doing their best or they were just tired of being ordered around all the time.  All this for just a few gems of benevolence from the one they desire, care for, and love.

Ladies, it wouldn’t hurt us to be nicer to our boyfriends, even though sometimes we feel as if we’re being more than generous by gracing them with our presence.  Maybe we could make dinner for them one night, make them a snack, or get them their favorite takeout.  It wouldn’t hurt us.

At the very least, we could say thank you after dinner.

20 Secrets of Very Fit People

fuckyeahfitspo:

  1. Keep a water bottle with you at all times and drink from it often. Water should always be your drink of choice. To kick things up every once in a while, try adding lemon, lime, cucumber, or a few berries to liven up the flavor without adding significant calories.
  2. Look at exercise as a pleasure and a privilege, not a burden or chore. Think positively about the changes regular exercise will produce. Rather than obsessing about your next meal, get excited about your next workout!
  3. Eat well-balanced meals and remember that excess calories, even if they’re from food that’s fat free and high in protein, will turn to excess weight. No matter what the latest fad diet says, extra calories equal extra weight!
  4. Limit caffeine and exposure to even secondhand smoke.
  5. Focus on short-term fitness goals with an emphasis on completing daily exercise.
  6. Keep a daily log of what you’re actually eating. This includes every time you grab a handful of chips here or eat the crust of your kid’s sandwich there, and ALL of your snacking.
  7. Enjoy an occasional (once a week) “unhealthy” treat, but never an unhealthy week or unhealthy vacation.
  8. Enjoy contributing to the health of others by having a partner or friends to exercise with, as well as recruiting others who want to feel better and have more energy. Have a neighbor who’s sitting on the porch every morning when you walk by? Ask him or her to join you on your walk!
  9. Avoid monotony by taking up new forms of exercising, or using things that keep you motivated and inspired, like new shoes or great music.
  10. Subscribe to fitness magazines to keep focused on health as an overall way of life.
  11. Invest in the right tools—good shoes, a portable MP3 player or iPod®, fitness equipment, a new series of tapes, etc.
  12. Make it your goal to do some form of exercise 6 or 7 days a week. If some days you exercise once in the morning and once in the evening, even better! If you’re eating right, exercise will fuel your energy level!
  13. Don’t compare your body to others’. Instead, work to be your personal best.
  14. If your diet is unbalanced, take daily vitamin and mineral supplements for total health.
  15. Work to take your exercise to new levels of intensity.
  16. Create an exercise schedule the day before instead of leaving it to chance or waiting to “find” the time. If our last three Presidents of the United States can make time to work out every day, you can make time too!
  17. Move beyond the boundaries of weight loss and into total fitness. Measure success by the way your clothes fit, not some number on a scale.
  18. Stick with eating plans you can maintain indefinitely. Remember that no matter how hard you’re working out, if you’re consuming too many calories, you’ll never see the muscles that lie beneath layers of fatty tissue.
  19. Get adequate amounts of sleep, but remember that people who exercise regularly fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly.
  20. Limit alcohol intake to special occasions.

These tips are the best!

Little Bigs
Awesome sliders.  What is shown is the regular beef slider, pretty yumster :)
not a big fan of the caramelized onions though…
I have talked to other people and some recommendations include: the pulled pork slider and they too have a special sauce that is supposedly delicious!  I was getting eating alive by mosquitoes when i went so i didn’t have much time to experiment! Try to go on a nice breezy day because it’s deck seating.  Also, the parking lot is small, so actually getting a space is difficult but like always in the montrose area, find street parking.

SOOOUUUULLLLL FOOOOODDDDD

the lines are SUPER LONG at peak hours.  they are literally around the restaurant.  it’s sort of on the outside of downtown houston.  Shown are they’re famous dishes: chicken&waffles (top) and catfish&grits* (bottom).

*Well, it’s supposed to be catfish&grits, but my friend who ordered doesn’t like grits so instead it’s catfish and…potatoes….but it was still good! and all the people that i’ve talked to who did order grits liked the dish!

These definitely deserve to be their signature dishes. Simple. Delicious.  Soul food doesn’t get better than that.

Smashburger

I always forget about smash burger…..

it’s a great place for something fast and good without going to mcdonalds or burger king.

super casual and easy, there’s make your own burgers or regular menu items.
The top pictures are the make your own chicken sandwich with the chipotle sauce with a side of their signature smashfries (fries with rosemary, garlic salt, and….olive oil?  I forget) and the bottom picture is a build your own cheese burger with the smash sauce.  The smash sauce has a mustardy hint to it so if you absolutely cannot stand mustard then probably go with a different sauce.  However, if you can tolerate a small amount of it (like me) then its fine.

So don’t forget about smashburger the next time you’re out looking for a quick easy burger!
